THE MARKHAMS: Two Pilots Guiding Dorland Through the Straits of Our Reconstruction Voyage

Larry and Joann MarkhamLarry Markham, CEO of Markham Development Management Group, Inc., describes himself as having the eclectic ability to know a little about a lot of things and see the big, broad picture. Design work is great, he says, but his interest is in overall projects. The projects he talks about are those he works on as a liaison and advocate for developers in the Southwest Riverside County. He has been very involved with the formation of the City of Temecula and Murrieta’s General Plans and Circulation elements. Additionally he played a major role in developing projects such as the Bear Creek Specific Plan, California Oaks Specific Plan, Rancon Business Center, and the Ynez Corridor Community Facilities district.

Markham, with a Master of Science in Civil Engineering, is a licensed Civil Engineer in the state of California and is widely respected for his mind and his abilities. His company is a multi-disciplinary land development firm offering land planning, civil engineering, environmental planning, surveying and mapping and project management. An admirer once said, "Larry more than just works here, Larry became a part of the area. He lives, breathes, sleeps and eats southwest Riverside County."

With his wife Joann, who handles all the financial aspects of their business, Larry has worked on more than 1,500 projects since he started MDMG, Inc. in August 1981. Larry and Joann have regularly given back to the community in which they live. They have committed time, expertise and/or resources to the Boys and Girls Club, the Arts Council of Temecula Valley, the Theatre Foundation, Community Recreation Center Foundation and Chambers of Commerce. Dorland Mountain Art Colony is grateful for their generosity and expert guidance through the rebuilding effort!
